But Guarente’s move to Maine did not cut him off from his criminal associates. According to Maine state police reports from the early 1990s, Guarente was being investigated for drug trafficking in Massachusetts and Maine, and criminal associates from Boston, such as David Turner and Stephen Rossetti, were frequent visitors to his Maine home for weekend hunting excursions.
